INGOT CASTING
THERMO D3
High exothermic anti-cavity powder for ingot casting
Description
THERMO D3 is a high exothermic powder and is used in ingot casting in combination with ISO EX 26 for the ingot head treatment.
Main ingredients: Ca, Si, SiO2
Bulk density: 1.2 kg / dm³
Ignition temperature: > 1,000 ° C
Application
During solidification, steel shrinks likely to form shrinkage cavities, with varying degrees of severity depending on the steel grade. The corresponding area in the ingot is unusable for the subsequent forming process. For this reason, the ingot head is heated to minimize shrinkage and to force non-metallic inclusions to the surface. This task is performed by THERMO D3, with a specific consumption of 1,5 - 2,5 kg/ton of steel, depending on the ingot geometry.
Effect
-
Minimization of shrinkage cavity formation through rapid development of the exothermic reaction
-
Particularly suitable for shrinkage-prone steel grades
-
Maximization of material yield
-
Maximization of deposition of non-metallic inclusions
